Likelihood Line
This week in maths, we were working on probability. I have some great probability lessons from back home, so I was thrilled to get to mix some of them in. For one activity, I had the kids create their own likelihood line. They listed events that were impossible, unlikely, equally likely, likely and certain. Since the kids made their own, they were really quite entertaining to read. I loved the ones under likely that listed things like "my sister will annoy me," "I will get maths homework," or "I will have pudding after tea." (Just so you know, that last one translates to "I will have dessert after dinner.")
When I got to this one, I laughed out loud. This child is obviously well aware of the current news stories and quite well traveled.

In the "unlikely" column, he listed: you will get nice food on a Virgin plane and get a cheap burger without horse meat. (I'm not sure if the story has been covered back in the states, but it has been a huge scandal here. Horse meat was found in frozen packages of items such as meat balls that were labelled as beef.) I also love that, living in England, under "equally likely" he listed: it will rain tomorrow.
It is very likely that I will embarrass myself tomorrow and have a great time doing it...
