The Hobbit
This afternoon, Charlotte and I snuck out of school soon behind the kids and made it in time to purchase popcorn and drinks before sitting down just as the last adverts were finishing up. The Hobbit was just what I was hoping and expecting for! It was a well-done film, we can't expect less from Peter Jackson, with beautiful scenery, a lot of adventure and a touch of humor. I missed some of my favorite characters from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, such as the sword-bearing king and the elfin archer, but there was still the beloved Gandalf and there were new characters to fall in love with. I think this, too will make a wonderful trilogy!
And just like the original trilogy, there is still a wonderful plot line of good verses evil, and with that, comes some beautiful quotes from the wise Gandalf: "Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps because I am afraid, and he gives me courage."
Thank goodness for those small everyday deeds of ordinary folk!
